Are you looking for work placement to apply your learning in a practical environment? 

 

SMP lifeskills2work often accepts students studying an accredited qualification related to disability services, social work or community services to complete their practical placement. During the placement students will work alongside our Community Support Workers and clients and have opportunity to demonstrate competencies in relation to:·      

 

  • Workplace health and safety,·        
  • Relevant legal and ethical frameworks (e.g. those supporting duty of care requirements),       
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing support strategies for individuals for people to sustain quality of life according to individualised plans,        
  • Understanding the influence and purpose of behaviour including the implementation of positive behaviour supports,     
  • Designing models for support including assessing requirements and designing and implementing procedures,     
  • Supporting clients to voice their opinions or needs and to ensure their rights are upheld,       
  • Applying specific workplace communication techniques to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues based on respect and trust.
