WA NDIS promises to deliver more choice and more control to people living with disability.
If you are living in an WA NDIS area, we have the knowledge and experience to help you navigate the funding model and access the supports and services you need. We can meet you at a time and location convenient to you to help you understand how WA NDIS works.
Since the launch of WA NDIS on 1 July 2015 (or WA NDIS My Way as it was known then), SMP has been assisting individuals access greater, high quality supports through the new funding model.
At the core of the process is individualised and person-centred planning, something SMP has advocated for and believed in for over 2 years. The planning approach looks at each individual's whole-of-life aspirations and the outcomes important to each individual. In real terms this means that individuals have increased choice in which services they would like to receive, how they would like to receive the services, and the extent to which they want to manage funding.
WA NDIS has broadened eligibility criteria meaning that more people can access supports and services through Disability Services Commission (DSC) including those with a psychosocial disability.
Examples of the activities funded through WA NDIS include, but are not limited to:
• Going on a Great Escape or individual dream holiday;
• Daily personal activities;
• Transport to enable community participation;
• Assistance to find and maintain employment
• Therapeutic supports including behavior support; and
• Domestic support to help maintain an individuals home environment
For examples of how our clients access these activities, please see our Services page.
