SMP is a registered NDIS provider.
In December 2017, the West Australian State Government announced WA would join the Federally administered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The new funding model is designed to provide more Australians living with disability greater choice and control over the disability supports and services they receive.
As of 1 July 2018 the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will be responsible for delivering NDIS in WA. The NDIS will be rolled out based on geographical areas by 2020.
If you would like to discuss how you can make the NDIS work best for you or your loved one, we have the knowledge and experience to help you navigate the new funding model and access community participation and independence-building activities of your choosing. We can meet you at a time and location convenient to you.
Individualised, person-centred planning, something SMP has advocated for and believed in for over 2 years, is at the heart of the NDIS.
Funding is based on an assessment of what supports are reasonable and necessary for an individual living with disability to live a full life. The planning looks at the goals and outcomes important to each person. In real terms this means that individuals have increased choice in which services they would like to receive, how they would like to receive the services, and the extent to which they want to manage funding.
Examples of the activities funded through NDIS include, but are not limited to:
• Developing independence and personal capacity;
• Daily personal activities;
• Community participation (including recreational and social activities);
• Assistance to find and maintain employment; and
• Assistance at home with household tasks.
For examples of how our clients access these activities, please see our Services page.
